Garrow, that's where we all should be, right? In a place of surrender. But... I earn what I have. The temptation, for me, is to Earn everything I can because it's up to me, and do with it what I want. Part of me believes that no matter where I was born that's how I would be. I would go after it and get it because I work hard enough.

So, I have run up to a brick wall that represents God asking me, "do you trust me? I give and I take away. Can you love me EVEN when I take away?" Then I find myself begging for Him not to take it away.

We, in America (myself included), are more concerned with comfort and that has caused us to not see God as our provider. Reading Crazy Love has opened my eyes to how I've changed over the past few years. There was a point in which I was actually looking to God to get to my next meal...now, I like being able to use a phone app to see that I have thousands of dollars in the bank. My prayer is that my wife and I will continue giving and never be so attached to our bank accounts that we won't write a check to empty them if it furthers God's kingdom...

The question is, is blessing the issue or is what we do with the blessing the issue? Shouldn't we be living a life of reliance on God, regardless of our circumstance? Everyone has temptation. Even people who have to rely on God for their food every day have a temptation to steal or kill for their next meal, right? Or they can rely on God. Someone who is sick with no medicine, has the option to cheat and steal for it or rely on God to heal them without it. Right?

An even wilder question is, if God has blessed America to get us to the point where we are, and it was Christ himself who said that thing about the rich man and the eye of the needle and all that... why would God make us a rich nation?

John,
Thanks for commenting. I constantly struggle with the idea that I could possibly make decisions in a way that will reflect on my girls in a way that's negative. I'm always asking God to show me what I should be doing to support them and be there for them.

I was just getting ready to pick my next book and made the same mistake! But then I thought well, this is a popular book for adults - why not read the kids version as well. I also teach Sunday School and may check if parents would like to borrow or read with their little ones! I love that you had concrete conversations with your child while reading this book! Great review, thanks.
